WELCOME to the MLS Booster Club 3-on-3 Hoops Classic! We’re looking forward to having another successful tournament this year and the opportunity for everyone to check out the MLS facilities, with the hope that many of you will be considering attending high school here when you graduate from your respective intermediate and middle schools. This year's tournament will take place on March 30, 2019.
The main theme for all participants and fans is to HAVE FUN! Basketball is a game and although it is a very competitive sport, don’t forget that it is a game…and games are meant to be fun. Don’t forget about sportsmanship…whether you win or lose. Don’t get so wrapped up in winning the tournament that you forget to meet and make new friends with those you are competing against. Who knows, someday you just may end up being teammates on the same team or students at the same high school. Make it one of your goals to meet some new friends!
The format will be a double-elimination tournament with a winner and loser bracket being used to determine the eventual champion in each category and we’re hoping for a full 32-team tournament with a maximum of 8 teams competing in each category. Early registration will save you ten dollars over the regular fee, so get your registration forms in early to hold your spot before they fill up. We will have one referee for each game and individual scorers for each game. Parents…please consider volunteering to help out at the scorer’s tables…and in addition, you’ll also have the best seat in the gym. Games will have a 25 minute limit and the first team to score 15 pts will be the winner (12 pts in loser bracket). Also, each team will have a designated captain and you, the players will be your own coaches….no parents or other individuals will be allowed to coach. Here’s your chance to coach yourselves, unlike what you’ve experienced playing for your respective schools and other junior programs throughout the year. Individual trophies will be presented to the champions in each category. The concession will be open and with good food and reasonable prices, you won’t be inconvenienced by having to leave to grab a bite to eat elsewhere.
If you have any questions regarding the tournament, please contact Rick Wall at firstname.lastname@example.org or 989-385-0767.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the MLS Booster Club to help support MLS student sports programs.
Thank you for your support! It is greatly appreciated! See you in March!
